When you frame your images with the black border, do you find it is generally better practice to use a letterbox - as in this picture - or to frame the whole picture, left, top, right and bottom? And what do you find is generally more appealing in the world of concept art/painting?

I mostly like to make only top and bottom borders, reminds me film scene) but for the vertical images i think is better border from the all sides.
What about the appealing...for each people there are different things, but image of different ganre with nice colors, composition, idea and realisation will be always appealing i thnk.
